Killer Is Dead is SUDA51’s latest game being jointly developed by Grasshopper Manufacture and Kadokawa Games, and is published by XSEED Games. Killer Is Dead follows the exploits of Mondo Zappa as he joins the secret state sanctioned “Executioner Office.” The game takes place in a dystopian future where lunar travel is commonplace along with cybernetic enhancements. Mondo is a highly skilled swordsman who wields a katana with his right hand and a cybernetic left arm that can be converted into many different weapons depending on the situation at hand. He is a man with an unhealthy obsession with blood as he brutally dispenses justice to those targeted by Executioner.
Mondo’s past is clouded in mystery as he has no idea how he acquired his cybernetic left arm, which is powered by the blood of his foes. When not on a job hunting down extremely dangerous criminals, he is on the prowl in an attempt to seduce a wide variety of ladies. Mondo is accompanied by fellow Executioner Vivienne Squall who is calm, collected and generally well liked, Mika Takekawa who lives with Mondo as his personal assistant and makes soft boiled eggs just the way he likes them, and Bryan Roses, a retired Executioner who now runs the “Executioner Office.” Bryan was an impressive Executioner in his time and has cybernetics covering half his body.
In Killer Is Dead, Mondo Zappa is tasked with taking out dangerous criminals and assassins. There’s the sociopathic Victor who plans on controlling human emotions through song and purifying the world. Damon aka “Wire” has a history with Bryan Roses and is undergoing a transformation into an enhanced being. Last is Giant Head, who has stolen of all things, the Earth, and Mondo is charged with bringing it back. Killer is Dead offers a side mode in this SUDA51 action game called “Gigolo Mode” where Mondo travels to meet exotic women around the world.
Killer Is Dead will be published by XSEED Games in North America in Summer of 2013 for the Xbox 360 andPlayStation 3 while Deep Silver will publish the title in Europe and Oceania. Stay tuned to Gamer Horizon as we will bring you more info on Killer Is Dead as the game gets closer to launch.
