Square Enix has announced the HD remastered editions of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for release on PlayStation 3 and Vita in 2013. These two PlayStation 2 classics will be bundled onto one disc on the PlayStation 3 and released separately for the Vita. Set in the world of Spira, Final Fantasy X tells the story of Tidus, a blitzball player who is transported into the future. There, he meets the High Summoner Yuna and joins her on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin. Tidus hopes that once Sin is destroyed he can return his home of Zanarkand. In Final Fantasy X-2, two years have passed since Sin was vanquished and Yuna sees a recording of Tidus in a sphere and sets out to find him. It is unknown if the recording is really him, but Yuna will stop at nothing to find out.

Final Fantasy X - Group PhotoFinal Fantasy X was originally released in 2001 for the PlayStation 2 with its sequel Final Fantasy X-2 getting a 2003 release two years later. This is the first time that Square Enix ever released a sequel for a Final Fantasy game. Since its release in 1987, Final Fantasy has been a unique JRPG series that showcases spectacular visuals, highly imaginative worlds and rich stories. The numerous titles in the series have achieved a cumulative shipment of over 100 million units sold worldwide.

When Final Fantasy X launched on the PlayStation 2, I was impressed with the way the game looked and I was excited to play it. For the first time in series history, players could swap out characters during battle. The subsequent sequel only had three playable characters in the party but gave the ability to switch jobs or Dress Sphere’s during combat.
