Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment have announced that a Season Pass will be available for Injustice: Gods Among Us when the game launches on April 16. The Season Pass will grant the buyer access to four of the game’s upcoming downloadable characters for the price of three. This DLC also comes with the Flashpoint Skin Pack which are alternate costumes for Wonder Woman, Aquaman and Deathstroke. The Season Pass will launch on April 16 with the game for $14.99 on PlaySation Network (PSN) or 1200 MS Points.

NetherRealm Studios, the creators of the Mortal Kombat franchise have developed a brand new fighting game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U called Injustice: Gods Among Us. The lines between good and evil have been blurred as heroes and villains have engaged each other in an epic battle that threatens the fate of the world. Play as your favorite DC Comics character or choose from a list of icons such as Batman, The Joker, Cyborg, Harley Quinn, Nightwing, Solomon Grundy, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and many others. Injustice: Gods Among Us features an original story set in the DC Universe where heavy story elements are delivered between character matches. The characters fight on a 2D plain within interactive 3D backgrounds that depict the hero or villain’s city or home. These locals include Superman’s Fortress of Solitude and the Bat Cave just to name a few. To get a sneak peak at the characters and locals of the game, you can go to YouTube and search “Injustice Battle Arena Fight Video.” The videos are great to watch for those who are into fighting games and even those that aren’t. The sheer entertainment value alone may be enough to encourage a purchase.

Back in 2008, Midway Games in conjunction with Warner Bros. Interactive created Mortal Kombat vs. DC. After Midway Games filed for bankruptcy in 2009, Warner Bros. Interactive Chicago purchased the assets and acquired the Mortal Kombat team. In 2010 Warner Bros. Games re-branded itself and formed NetherRealm Studios. Their first title was a reboot of the popular Mortal Kombat game that featured heavy story elements told in between fights. The studio went on to release Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Later that same year, Batman: Arkham City Lockdown was released for iOS. Their latest project is a return to form with a fighting game that plays similarly to the reboot of Mortal Kombat but is grounded in the DC Universe.

Injustice: Gods Among Us - Luthor & Bain

My familiarity with DC characters has more to do with the animated shows than the comic books. I’m familiar with all the characters on the list and can’t come up with anyone that deserves to be there over anyone else. Hopefully they won’t throw in a bunch of B list heroes and villains. Although, I prefer John Stewart over Hal Jordan. Personally, I am not into fighting games. I played Street Fighter 4 on easy mode and couldn’t beat Seth. I’m really really bad at at fighting games, but Alex and Ted aren’t. So if you see EternityInBlack (Alex) or ThothBeyond (Ted) online on PSN or XBLA, be sure to challenge the Gamer Horizon crew to a friendly match. Be on the lookout for Injustice: Gods Among Us when it hits store shelves on April 26 and watch for a full review on Gamer Horizon.
