Saints Row IV’s Independence Day trailer makes me shed tears of joy

Just in time for July 4th weekend, our friends at Deep Silver and Volition released a new Saints Row trailer narrated by Keith David.

The first time Sean and I ever played Saints Row IV, we were consumed with delight. But we realize of course that not everyone shares our enthusiasm... yet. I think when I finally saw Saints Row IV in the flesh, the design decisions Volition made with the game leaned more towards to parody gaming in general rather than just parody the Saints Row franchise as a whole. The choice of Keith David, after having his character be completely written off in the first Saints Row, to play as Keith David is a sign of Volition's dedication to make something that was completely off the wall and balls to the wall at the same time. Speaking of Keith David, he's featured in this brand new trailer for Saints Row IV which reminds me much of his role as Colonel Anderson from the Mass Effect series. Coincidence? I think Volition's got our number. Saints Row IV shows up on store shelves on August 20th, complete with the Super Dangerous Wub Wub Edition.

PlayStation Plus Update for 6/18: Saints Row: The Third

Thanks to the short month of June, we’ll be getting two games in PlayStation Plus this week: Saints Row: The Third and Gods Eater Burst.

After the smorgasboard of last week's PlayStation Plus update, we still have some great titles this week. Because there are only four Tuesdays this month, we're getting both Saints Row: The Third for PlayStation 3, and Gods Eater Burst for PSP, compatible with Vita. Saints Row: The Third practically needs no introduction. The Saints are no longer just a street gang; they're a franchise. Explore this crazy open-world game, featuring a great soundtrack, including a radio station that plays songs from Tim & Eric, and engage in activities like getting hit by cars for the insurance money. This is the second AAA title this month for PlayStation Plus, ignoring the three bonus titles we got, which, in and of themselves, are AAA titles. httpvh://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgcoDsqkt3A   Gods Eater Burst came out near the end of the PSP's life cycle. It was released to ride the wave of popularity that Monster Hunter brought to the PSP, and plays similarly. It's a last-minute

E3 2013: Saints Row IV Impressions

Sean and I got some hands on time with Saints Row IV, and Alex couldn’t be any more elated to try out the next Saints Row game in the franchise!

For our first meeting at E3 2013, Sean and I got to play Volition's epic next chapter of the Saints Row franchise on the Xbox 360. Sean's got an interesting interview with one of the lead designers that'll be going up soon, but I have the privilege of providing you my Saints Row IV impressions and some thoughts about the game in general. The demo of Saints Row IV started off with the leader of the Saints in the White House, which was renamed "The White Crib" when he came into office. He's brought his unique brand of governing to the Oval Office, as made apparent with politicians smoking and drinking, and tons of strippers providing entertainment in the hallways. It's at this time that the leader of the Saints, the President of the United States, is given various executive powers by means of making arbitrary yet funny player driven decisions that set the stage for what's about to happen. Along the while, we are introduced to Benjamin "Motherfucking" King and Keith David as... Keit

The President’s Destructive Power In Saints Row IV

The President’s Destructive Power In Saints Row IV

Dubstep the enemy to death or crush them with a Mech Suit as President in Saints Row IV.

Deep Silver shows off the latest video for their upcoming game Saints Row IV. This latest video shows off the newly elected President of the United States as he meets and greets his fellow citizens with the obligatory punch to the groin. The video is narrated by Senior Producer Jim Boone and shows the main character dressed as Uncle Sam as he runs around the alien infested city of Steelport. Saints Row IV offers several new weapons like the Inflato-Ray and the Dubstep Gun which are featured in the video. When fired at an enemy, the Inflato-Ray blows up the individuals' heads like a balloon until the whole body pops. It's quite funny to look at and will certainly bring hours of amusement. The second weapon demo-ed is the Dubstep gun which forces nearby enemies and citizens to break out and dance to the beat of the Dubstep. The weapon fires out a red and blue colored energy that damages anything or anyone it hits. Along with the new guns, the Saints Row IV video also shows off a combat m

Meet The President – Saints Row IV Trailer

Meet The President – Saints Row IV Trailer

The leader of the Third Street Saints is the newly elected President who must deal with political adversaries and an alien invasion in Saints Row IV.

Deep Silver and Volition have released the latest trailer for their upcoming third-person open world shooter, Saints Row IV. In this latest game trailer, the leader of the Third Street Saints is elected President and must deal with political adversaries as well as an alien invasion. The trailer depicts the newly elected President of The United States kicking some butt and taking names. With great super powers comes great responsibility as the President must defeat the alien warlord Zynyak and his reptilian hoard before it is too late. Players will be able to run fast, jump far and levitate people, throwing them into objects. With all that's going on, Saints Row IV continues the tradition of outrageous mayhem and over the top action of the previous games. Saints Row IV was originally to be a standalone expansion to Saints Row: The Third titled Enter the Dominatrix which picked up the storyline one year after the events of The Third. Over time, the game grew to more than what it was

Saints Row: Confessions of a Fun Junkie

Now that Saints Row IV has been revealed, has the series gone stale?

Full disclosure: I absolutely love the Saints Row series. Not because of the humor, which tends to run the lowbrow gamut from dick jokes, to scatological. Not because of the stories, because to be honest, the stories in the Saints Row games aren’t all that great or memorable. It’s certainly not because of the graphics, which have never been particularly mind-blowing. No, none of those things make me love this series. What it boils down to is a simple concept that often can be hard to deliver on. Quite simply, these games are just damn fun.  Now, with the Saints Row IV trailer and overall plot hitting last week, I felt it would be a good time to run down memory lane, or the row, perhaps? Sorry. Ahem. The moment the series had me hooked was way back in 2006 - which is literally a lifetime ago in console years. I was taking my voiceless avatar out for stroll in the neighborhood I had just acquired from the Vice Kings. Purple clad “homies” everywhere nodded as I walked by
