E3 2013 is just around the corner and the whole team here at Gamer Horizon is looking forward to seeing the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One and all of the potentially amazing games that could be released this year! What are you looking forward to at E3 2013?

I hope that Sony announces anything, anything at all about enabling backwards compatibility through Gaikai on PS4. I want to see some new stuff for Vita, and I don’t even care what. Just let me know that the system is alive and well.
I want Aksys to reveal that the next BlazBlue, Chrono Phantasma, is coming to America. I also want them to talk about the next Zero Escape game.
I want to play the new Mario Kart and Smash Brothers, which are allegedly playable at E3 (and select Best Buy locations).
I want to see any accessories from the next systems. I have a bunch of arcade sticks that are about to become obsolete; I want to see if there are going to be any in this coming generation.
I’m curious about the Ouya, and their “E3” booth. What will they have available in terms of software? They need games, yo.

Truthfully, I want to see what both Sony and Microsoft are going to be announcing to counteract each other. I’m also a bit anxious to hear Sony’s plans in response to the #PS4NoDRM campaign that a bunch of people started. Also, I’m wondering if Microsoft is going to say something about the used game debacle or try to sweep it under the carpet. I’ve been noticing as of late that Microsoft is trying to bury the whole issue by overwhelming readers with how many viewers actually watched the Xbox Reveal and other kinds of trivial information. The fact that Microsoft is going before Sony might be more beneficial to Sony, in this year’s case. I don’t necessarily think Microsoft will be apologetic, but I can’t see how they can’t address ire gaming fans as one of the first parts of their conference. Either way, these two companies’ announcements are what excites me the most this year.

What I am most excited for from E3 is for Microsoft and Sony to respond definitively on the used game issue. And honestly, if it’s anything less than “you can sell your used games at your leisure” I’m going to be shocked. I don’t expect either company to remain consumer friendly on this matter. And in all honesty, this issue has somewhat tainted my expectations for E3. The messaging of “wait until E3 for the games” seems awfully condescending to me. No amount of great games will make up for effectively killing private sales.
That being said, I am excited to see Call of Duty: Ghosts. Say what you want about the series, I’m a fan and the improvements being made–no matter how slight–are interesting. And for the record, I play the campaigns before I even set a digital foot in multiplayer.
Like Alex, I’m really excited for Metal Gear Solid V. I absolutely loved Metal Gear Solid 4 so that whole “even numbered entries being bad” thing is a wash for me. The only game in the proper series I didn’t enjoy was Metal Gear Solid 2.
Another game I’m anxious to see is The Witcher III. I loved The Witcher II so the idea of an open world in that world is enough to sell me on it.
I’m also really looking forward to Respawn finally unveiling their game. Hopefully it will be playable and I can get some hands on time with it.
I’m looking forward to some surprises and seeing tons of new games. This is a great year to be attending E3 for the first time and I’m just genuinely excited to be attending E3 with Gamer Horizon. Like I said, it will be my first, and our first as a unit so I’m looking forward to seeing how we handle our coverage and hope to bring an interesting insight to the event.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the PS4 looks like. I like the look if the PS3 console and hope the PS4 looks just as cool or better looking. The PS4 tease didn’t do anything for me and seemed like a waste of time on Sony’s part. I hoping to be able to hold the PS4 controller in my hand and see how it feels. When it comes to PS4 backwards compatibility, I want to know what Sony is going to do for me and everyone else who owns games on disc and games we bought on the PSN. I’m hoping the PS4 will allow the consumer to install a larger HD like the PS3.

When it comes to the Xbox One, I’m looking forward to getting a closer look at the console and a feel for the controller. I want to see the games in motion on the system and the 15 exclusive games Microsoft commented about during their press conference.

I’m really looking forward to seeing more of the next gen consoles at E3 this year. In recent years I’ve become primarily a PC gamer, so I’m curious to see the new consoles in action to find out how they compare to my gaming rig. I’m also hoping that Nintendo has at least something significant to show off for the Wii U. I’ve been worried ever since they announced that they would not be doing a big E3 press conference this year, and the Wii U sorely needs some attention.
I’m also expecting release date and pricing announcements for both the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. My best guess is they will both be priced around $399.99 and launching in November. Along with that information there should be confirmation of many of the launch titles that should be available.
I also want to get some good news from Square Enix. After their embarrassing moment during the PlayStation 4 reveal conference (in which they announced absolutely nothing and showed off an old tech demo), Square Enix really needs to show something at E3 2013. Final Fantasy VS XIII? Final Fantasy XV? Chrono Break? Seiken Denestsu 5? C’mon, Square Enix, separately you used to be my favorite two video game RPG developers. Do something to wow me! Also, where is the western release of Dragon Quest X? Hopefully Square Enix Presents will shed some light onto their upcoming plans.
No matter what, with two new consoles on the horizon and technology continuing to be pushed forward, this E3 is sure to be very exciting!

I’m keeping an eye on the PS4, from the info at the PS4 Event, it sound promising, my only fear would be the price, it should be $499.99 tops. Of course Nintendo 1st party stuff (being a Nintendo fanboy). I would really want to see what is this new Final Fantasy game, since someone from SE said it. Other games from me would me Project x Zone, Assassin Creed IV, Saint Row 4, Tales of Xillia, for starters. Also, I’m hoping but I know it won’t probably happen is they make some sort of announce on the Wii U, try to convince more ppl why would they get it, like Price Drop, if it works with the 3Ds, why not Wii U as well. That’s my E3 2013 if things I’m look for…

Sony is very aware of the slow start the PlayStation 3 had after launching at $599.99. They’re going to have to pick their price point for the PlayStation 4 very carefully. Rumors are floating around about a $449.99 price point, but that still seems too expensive to me. $399.99, while still expensive, seems like the sweet spot, though that price will still prevent a lot of potential customers from purchasing the system. With the cheaper Wii U still struggling to find buyers, I can’t help but to wonder if the majority of gamers just refuse to spend more than $250-$300 on a console. Granted, the Wii U has a lot of other issues deterring buyers as well, but I digress…

The Wii U is struggling for a lot of reasons. The fact that the Wii withered on the vine in the past 3 years, no games, not a huge leap forward, people not understanding that it’s a new console, and well, it just doesn’t seem interesting enough. That casual market that enjoyed the Wii stopped caring.
I think gamers are more than willing to buy something if it offers them games they want to play. The Wii U hasn’t.
As of right now, I’m leaning towards PS4. But even that is up in the air if they don’t do the right thing when it comes to used games.

Well said, I also am leaning toward PS4, as for the Wii U, I think the problem is Nintendo seems not getting with the times when it comes to technology, some what fear of change. Look at the N64, they were using cartridge as a medium rather than CD-Rom, in the GameCube, they decided to use their own version of a disk medium, with the Wii, they took a big gamble on gameplay over graphic by not making it HD, I admit the motion control was innovating, but sadly didn’t last long, and now when Nintendo finally embrace HD graphics, it’s 7 years too late. I may be a Nintendo fanboy, but the price of the Wii U doesn’t justify, if the SKU were $50 off, then maybe it had a chance like Sean said, the technology is becoming old and lacking good games or “Nintendo” games seems the Wii U will be brand as a secondary console to the PS4 or XBoxOne.

You’re absolutely correct about the HD thing. Though Nintendo has always used their own disc format.
I also don’t care to lift the controller or have the controller be anything beyond what PS and Xbox do. A few weeks ago I played Zombi U at Alex’s house and after the first area I was not only done with the game but the Wii U. Nintendo just doesn’t make a product for me and they haven’t since the SNES.

Apparently now it seems that the Wii U 8G Basic Set is being recalled. It’s this mean there could be a new SKU or hopefully a price drop?

Nintendo’s claiming that this is because they’re trying to even out platform allocations (Black vs. White Wii U allocations) across the board… but they didn’t say why.

Well in Japan, they’ll have a 32g White Wii U, I’m thinking that the SKU going to be 32g standard whether it’s white or black. My hypothesis on price drop, for $299.99, you get a 32g Wii U, Game Pad, the Promotion program, and the important stuffs, but no in game package.

I agree, $399,99 is the key price, especially for the Ps4 and XBoxOne, also they might do a subscription price style like the console would be $249.99 w/ Xboxgold.PS+ for $9.99 per month for 2 yrs. Ir may look expensive, but at least you’re not paying it on one go.
