A new challenge awaits this guy

If you’re reading this editorial and have come here in a bit of a shock, I’m going to just stop you right there and say that in a way, I am too.

I have lived, breathed, and bled Gamer Horizon since Anthony and I started this as a podcast in 2011. The site started off as a partnership and was supposed to just only be a podcast dedicated to video games – you know, the kind of stuff that we’ve covered an already inordinate number of times. And yet our ambitions got the best of us and in a couple of years, we reimagined Gamer Horizon as a fully independent video game website covering things we’re interested in and focusing on what we love the most and what we wanted to share with people. It was met with a lot of mixed reception but ultimately, many people figured out what we were doing.

At its current state, Gamer Horizon couldn’t be any stronger. It now plays host to a bunch of wonderful articles written by a staff who’s more than capable of shifting the course of the website to new and exciting heights. I’ve provided them with the tools to succeed and they even have ideas that will further the quality of the website than what I am capable of. It’s at this point that I decided that it’s time for me to head on out and ride into the sunset. I mentioned before that I’ve made many websites that came and went because of me, but I don’t think this will happen to Gamer Horizon. With Ari Margo as the site’s new Editor-in-Chief, I firmly believe that he can turn this site into something even more incredible than what I could conjure up in my wildest dreams.

So then, the question is, “What are you going to be doing?” The only way you can find out what it’s going to be is by following my Twitter account at @eternityinblack and seeing what I post. I will still be streaming games on my Twitch channel, per usual, at http://twitch.tv/backlogbattle_alex. Lastly, Anthony and I will be moving the Social Link Podcast to a new home as well, so be sure to stay tuned to my Twitter for details.

Leaving Gamer Horizon is like leaving home for me, and I still can’t believe we’ve been at this for three long years. I look forward to seeing the many exciting new adventures that the Gamer Horizon crew will be up to and will continue to be an avid fan of something that I am truly proud to be a part of.

In closing, I would like to leave everyone a quote:

“Life is divided into three terms – that which was, which is, and which will be. Let us learn from the past to profit by the present, and from the present, to live better in the future.” -William Wordsworth

Thanks for the fun memories everyone and I hope to see you around. This is Alex, signing off! 😉

  1. It’s been a great few years, Alex. I wish you nothing but the best in your endeavors, and I thank you for all your hard work, and for bringing me on board to begin with.

And to all of our readers, thank you for sticking with us as well. We are going to continue producing content for Gamer Horizon, and I’ll be providing more information about the future of this website in the coming weeks.
