Not surprisingly, when the newest Devil May Cry came out, people turned to series creator Hideki Kamiya for his thoughts.
DmC Devil May Cry has had an odd following since it was revealed at TGS 2010 all the way up to the months leading up to its release. Many fans complained about the way Dante looks, the ease in which people got high combo ranks in the demo, and just the general pessimism that gamers have when it comes to change. So naturally, when people see that a game that they’ve derided over the past few months comes out with glowing reviews, they put the original creator on a soapbox and ask what he’s got to say.
But Hideki Kamiya (@PG_kamiya) hasn’t touched Devil May Cry since he created it 12 years ago and, for all intents and purposes, has moved on. For the uninitiated, the man’s name doesn’t ring a bell, but he’s widely responsible for some of Capcom’s most memorable games in the past decade and a half: Resident Evil 2, Okami, and Viewtiful Joe. His most recent work, Bayonetta, continues his tradition of blending style and action in a stylistic and often ridiculous yet cool manner.
So when asked about Ninja Theory’s take on the Devil May Cry series, he took to Twitter and posted his thoughts on the subject:

Not surprising, given that the man is busy working on a couple of projects, namely The Wonderful 101 and overseeing Bayonetta 2. Either way, the series has its blessing from the man that created it. We can finally move on and enjoy the game.
