I became a gamer at the age of five, after watching my brothers play NES together. Although originally I played in order to emulate my brothers, my fondness for gaming grew and eventually exceeded both of theirs. Although nowadays I use games to help relieve stress, it’s still my passion; I adore the stories, the fun and the freedom that gaming grants us and every year it just keeps getting better. As for being a writer, I developed a passion for the written word after winning a contest in 11th grade. After that, I started writing for the school paper and majored in Creative Writing in college. Now that I am finished with my studies (long journey!), I am finally ready to start mixing my passions!
First video game you ever played
The first video game I ever played was The Legend of Zelda on the NES. I was too young to really comprehend what was going on (and my brother wouldn’t give me a save file) so I used to just wander around killing Octoroks until my brother came home and yelled at me for “messing up” his game. Back then I thought he was a jerk until I got older and realized how precious save files really are. I still can’t play Pokemon ever since my cousin deleted my 148/150 save file.
First video game you ever finished
Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I can’t even count of how many hours I put into that game; if there had been achievements back then I’d have maxed them out. Even now I still fire it up on the 3DS and run through a few worlds for old-times-sake.
First video game system you ever purchased with your own money
PlayStation 2. I remember how excited I was to get it. I used to shop at an independent video game store that held three systems for me and my buddies. Tekken 2 Tag Team blew my mind back then (man, remember how excited we all were for The Bouncer? Good times haha). That first console is so exciting; there’s nothing like that feeling of unboxing something you bought yourself (maybe that’s why unboxing videos are so popular?).
