Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Confirmed By Ubisoft
Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag does exist and is coming this calendar year to current-gen consoles and the PC.
Entitled Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, the game has been announced for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. There is no word on a PlayStation 4 or next-generation Xbox release. The PlayStation 3 version, in keeping with previous installments, will get 60 minutes of additional gameplay, likely in the form of an exclusive set of missions (Assassin’s Creed III had the Benedict Arnold missions on PS3, and Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood had the Copernicus missions).
Major game news outlets have already seen the game in action, and the embargo on Assassin’s Creed IV will be lifted on Monday. Due to the fact that these outlets signed NDA’s, none of them could officially confirm that the leaks were legitimate, even though they had seen hours of the game. What we already believe we know is that the game takes place shortly before Assassin’s Creed III, and is centered in the Caribbean. It is rumored you will be playing as the grandfather of Connor Kenway, and that piracy and sailing will be major themes of the game.
On a personal note, maybe some franchises benefit from being annualized, but the Assassin’s Creed games have lots to do in them, and are deep experiences. I’m still enjoying Assassin’s Creed III, and I am NOT ready for another game in the series. It’s only March! Let me enjoy what I have!
