The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: What We Know So Far

So now that the word’s out on CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we’ve been gathering as much information on Geralt’s last adventure as we can. Thankfully, CD Projekt RED was kind enough to give us the official press release so that we can give you a lot of the official information regarding this title and some tiny bit of speculation.

With that said, here’s every single bit of information we know about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt:

  • Yes, the official name of the game is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
  • This will be the first Witcher game that will have a fully open world, similar to Skyrim.
  • This will be the last Witcher game to feature Geralt of Rivia.
  • The game world is said to be 30 times larger than The Witcher 2.
  • In fact, the game world will be larger than any modern RPG in history.
  • The game is running on the recently announced REDengine 3.
  • Combat will be improved from previous games.
  • There will be various forms of transportation such as by horse or by boat.
  • Each area will have very distinct populations with their own customs, legends, and problems.
  • “Our team had to make significant design changes and our tech had to be rebuilt,” says Adam Badowski, head of CD Projekt RED.
  • The game will have a introduction feature aimed to introduce new players to the world of The Witcher.
  • The game is going to be released on “all high end platforms.”
  • The game is scheduled to be released in 2014.
  • No details on the story have been revealed.
  • No publishers have been announced.

While details are really scarce, the March issue of Game Informer should reveal a lot more information that’s exclusive to the publication. Will the game have a showing at this year’s E3? We’re counting on it, especially with the strong prevailing mood that we’ll be seeing brand new consoles this year. As always, stay tuned and bookmark our site for future news about the final chapter in Geralt’s adventures!

  1. I played through Witcher 2 last year, one of the most mature RPG’s for the PC I have played in awhile. The Witcher universe is so engrossing, with so much back story, that even after playing both Witcher 1 and 2 I still don’t know everything about the Witcher universe, haha.

With that being said, the story is still fantastic, so I hope Witcher 3 can successfully conclude the series.
