Square Enix and Eidos Montreal announce Thief 4

Today Square Enix and Eidos Montreal announce the next game in the Thief franchise, Thief 4. This reinvention of the franchise will be released on high end PCs and Next Gen consoles. The rich get richer while the poor get sick. Everyone awaits change so it is up to you to do something about it. Take the role of Garret, a Master Thief as he must step out of the shadows and uncover a sinister plot before his world is torn apart.

“Time has moved on. Power has shifted. New greed replaces the old.”
“But to remain free in the city of chains – that is still the greatest prize.”
“First I stole to survive… then I survived to steal.”
“I am one man; I hear your secrets, see your hidden truths.”
“I am the shadows, the dark and deadly, the velvet night. You will not see me coming.”

“I am Garrett… What’s yours is mine.”

The series was originally created by Looking Glass Studios as they created Thief: The Dark Project in 1998 and Thief II: The Metal Age in 2000.  Looking Glass Studios went out of business in 2000 and several employees moved to Ion Storm Austin and produced the third game in the franchise Thief: Deadly Shadows in 2004. Eidos Montreal has been handed the reins of Thief 4 and fans of the series eagerly await its release. With games like Assassins Creed, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell and recently released Dishonored taking cues from the Thief franchise, its only fitting that Thief 4 make a jump back into the limelight.
