Injustice: Gods Among Us added to Evo

In a surprise announcement today, Mr. Wizard, one of the founding fathers of the EVO fighting game tournament, announced that for the first time since 2004, the EVO tournament is going to have 9 games. The ninth game is going to be Injustice: Gods Among Us. After teasing that the big announcement would be a pizza party, a short video played, simply announcing Injustice as the ninth game.

Injustice: Gods Among Us will be played on PlayStation 3 at Evo, like every other title (except for Super Smash Brothers Melee, of course). Any DLC characters or balance patches that release by June 30 will be tournament legal. Earlier today, Lobo was released as the first DLC character for Injustice: Gods Among Us, so of course he will be playable at Evo.

Tournament rules also state that the stage select of the first match in Injustice: Gods Among Us will be random. After the first match, the loser will be allowed to select a stage. This rule may be modified if the community speaks up, according to Mr. Wizard.

For those that have already signed up for Evo, there will be a special link at evo.shoryuken.com to add Injustice to the list of games you are competing in.
