Soon after the leak that Batgirl would be the second DLC character in Injustice: Gods Among Us, Netherrealm studios made it official with a Twitter post. Now, almost a week later, Netherrealm has posted a gameplay video of her in action.
This trailer also features a new costume for The Joker, taken from the classic story “The Killing Joke”, drawn by Alan Moore, in which he shoots and paralyzes Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl.
Judging from the trailer, Batgirl appears to have a lightning-fast divekick, and what appears to be a parry where after dodging the attack, she appears in front of the opponent and throws them. She also appears to have some kind of stance change, or at least the ability to electrify her punches. It seems like she plays like a more agile, but less gadget-focused Batman. One other unique factor is that her super is activated from the air. It appears like the super would take the form of a projectile aimed downward at an angle, but the Joker is too close for me to really tell if that is the case. Regardless, it’s the only super move in Injustice done from the air.
The Joker’s costume may be part of the The Killing Joke pack, teased at the end of the trailer as separate DLC. However, there will be one free costume released as part of the Batgirl compatibility pack.
Batgirl’s release date for Injustice: Gods Among Us is unknown at this time. Check out Ted’s review of Injustice: Gods Among Us here.
Her Super is basically a Bat-Wedgie!
