Bioware just released a developer diary that discusses the new protagonist in Dragon Age: Inquisition, what role the Fade plays in the new game, and the new world of Thedas. In Dragon Age: Inquisition, players will choose from one of the three playable races and three playable classes and take on the role of the Inquisitor, the leader of an organization called the Inquisition.
Instead of following someone else’s orders to achieve their goals, the Inquisitor will drive the narrative forward as the Inquisition attempts to halt a demonic invasion. The Inquisitor will have numerous agents at their command that can be sent out to accomplish certain tasks throughout Thedas. It is the player’s mission to find and stop the villain who tore open the Fade and prevent the world from plunging into chaos.
The world of Dragon Age: Inquisition is huge and will look less like previous Dragon Age games and more like the Elder Scrolls games, with a much larger and expansive open world. Players will have the opportunity to explore different nations set in lush jungles, arid wastelands, forests and mountain tops throughout their travels.
Bioware is creating a whole new experience with Dragon Age: Inquisition, leaving the role of the grey wardens from Dragon Age: Origins and the noble Hawke family from Dragons Age 2 behind. With the larger open world and the interesting story, I can’t wait to play the game. Powered by DICE’s Frostbite Engine, Dragon Age: Inquisition is being developed for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One and is scheduled to launch in the Fall of 2014. I know that seems like a long time, but I will be biding my time by playing through Dragon Age: Origins again.
