On The Horizon: Pokemon X and Y

Happy Columbus Day, dear Horizonites! How’s everyone’s weekend? I saw Gravity over the weekend with 3D and in Dolby Atmos, and I must say that I’m coming off of a high from that movie. It’s an hour and a half of suspense and lots of great visual effects and fantastic audio. I also got to hang out with the Gamer Horizon crew, sans Sean, and we’ve recorded a podcast that you’ll be finding in your inboxes fairly soon. Watch out for that!

This week in games is a bit curious, given that the biggest game we could muster up already came out a few days ago: Pokemon X and Y. I haven’t been much of a Pokemon person, and I don’t think I ever have been, but a lot of people are saying that this is a true evolution (no pun intended) of the series. These days, my preferred monster collecting is through demons in the Shin Megami Tensei series, but for people who want to play an awesome Pokemon game, Nintendo’s got your number. Also, you probably already have it! But here’s the trailer anyway.

If you’re a long time fan of the Cabela series, you’re in luck! Cabela’s African Adventures is coming out for the Wii, Xbox 360, and the PlayStation 3… and it’s exclusive to GameStop! Here’s a trailer for this game, featuring the “Lion” in the game, should you wish to pick it up this week!

Ever since I saw Wipeout from Activision, I was immediately confused mainly because it’s named similarly to Sony’s Wipeout racing series. And while I’ve only watched a couple of episodes of the actual TV show, which immediately reminded me of MXC/Takeshi’s Castle, I thought that Wipeout was silly enough to warrant a video game. And lookee here… Activision’s got you covered! Here’s the trailer for their latest game, Wipeout: Create and Crash!

This week on Gamer Horizon, I’ve got a few write-ups from IndieCade 2013 that I still gotta post. Ari will be posting his thoughts on Pokemon X/Y. Or is it Ted? I don’t really remember who has the game! We’re also going to have a review of Beyond: Two Souls coming from Sean this week, so make sure to stay tuned for that. We recorded a new episode of the podcast for you last Saturday, which will promptly go out this week that you won’t want to miss!

Yea, it’s a slow week, but next week seems to be a little bit more exciting! Have you picked up the newest Pokemon yet? Let us know what you think in the comments below and hope to see you back on the site this week!

    1. The new EXP Share might as well be an overhaul of the game mechanics. And I say, for the better. I am 7 hours in, and I haven’t even done the second gym yet, and I feel like I’ve done loads of stuff already.
