Furthermore, users will not have to go through activation steps or be charged usage fees when playing used disc-based games on their PS4 system.
Does PS4 need an “always on” internet connection in order to play games?
No, PS4 does not require a persistent internet connection to play games, so users can play single-player titles offline at any time. For titles with online multiplayer functionality, an internet connection and a PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play online.

As a Sony guy, I love it and sadly admit that I’m tempted to drink their kool-aid, but with that say, it’s unfortunate on some of its key points. No support on external hard drive, I’m mix about that, but hopefully Sony will provide an option to get a bigger hard drive like the 360. Removing features that was on the PS3 can be a wrong move and some ppl are already upset, I get why Sony did it, Sony Unlimited. Will not give PSN members a chance to change their PS ID, even if only once.
On a side note, there was rumor that the reason for the day 1 patch on the PS4 is not only to add new features, but the disable DRM, again rumors, but this thing got crazy, lol…
Still, I’m planing to get on, but not at launch, every console launch tend to that anomalies out of the box.
