In February of this year, Sony revealed that their new console would be called the PlayStation 4. By the end of this week, it will be available for sale. For some of you, it seems like an eternity has passed since then; for others, maybe just a blip in time. In any case, there can be no denying that this is a huge week for Sony. With several ways to Buy 2 Get 1 free from various merchants, early adopters have plenty of opportunity to build a small library of PlayStation 4 games on day one! Here are some of the big ones that will be available the same day as the system:
Killzone was never the Halo-killer Sony would have liked it to have been, but years have passed and the franchise has matured. Killzone: Shadow Fall looks like the culmination of what the franchise was meant to do. Taking place decades after the original Killzone games, this is a great time to jump into the universe, and it looks pretty compelling. Combine that with a multiplayer mode that promises every map pack will be free, and a mode called Warzone that is completely random, and you may want to put this one on your short list.
Knack is a game by Mark Cerny, and he made Marble Madness, Sonic the Hedgehog, Crash Bandicoot and I mean this goes on and on. Knack is going to be the game the kids will play because there’s not a lot else that’s age appropriate. That being said, it offers a Hard difficulty mode that is meant to evoke the kind of difficulty found in mascot games of yore. And heck, you’re gonna need a third game for those deals, right?
Resogun is from the people who brought you Super Stardust HD. Let me put it this way: Watch this gorgeous trailer where many things explode, and then remember that if you have PlayStation Plus, this game is free for you on Day 1:
If you’re not picking up a PlayStation 4, there are still some games for you. Heck, not just any game, but a brand new Ratchet & Clank adventure, called Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus.
It’s a very big week for releases, and we haven’t had a console launch in a long time, so-
Oh… oh. Sorry, Wii U, didn’t see you there. Not your fault.
The PlayStation 4 will also get a lot of indie titles and cross-platform games on Friday, including Madden NFL 25, NBA2k14, NBA Live 14, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Battlefield 4, Need for Speed: Rivals, Injustice: Gods Among Us: Ultimate Edition, FIFA 14 and Call of Duty Ghosts!
Anyway, it’s a big big week for releases. What games are you picking up with your PS4? Let us know! We’ll see you next week for the Xbox One launch and a couple huge releases from Nintendo!
“Oh… oh. Sorry, Wii U, didn’t see you there. Not your fault”
Ouch, is it safe to say that after Super Mario 3D World, Nintendo have nothing for the holiday on the Wii U (or 3Ds with TLoZ:aLoTW)?
As for PS4, I not getting at launch, I never ever purchase a console at launch, normally, I wait at least 6 months to a year getting the console, just like I did with the Wii U. Launch consoles tend to go bad like R.R.o.D. or Over Heating PS3, or even on the Wii, which launch Wii didn’t have the proper update. I’m going to wait until I can get enough stories of the console to justify of getting the PS4, and no I will not get the XBone80 confusing messaging set.
