UPDATE: Batman: Arkham Knight announced for next-gen and PC, with trailer!

Before you even say anything: No, there’s no release date. But the good news is that Batman: Arkham Knight is being developed by Rocksteady Games and it’ll be launching on next-gen platforms and PC.

The brand new title in the Arkham series will be set in Gotham City, which is notably larger than Arkham City (great /sarcasm), a year after the events of Batman: Arkham City. Players will also be able to drive the Batmobile and will feature the Penguin, Scarecrow, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn to name a few. Leaks on retailer sites also state that this is expected to bookend the entire Arkham series, even calling it as an “explosive finale.”

I’m personally turned off by the open world mechanics introduced in Batman: Arkham City, but if they strike a good balance between open world segments and very interesting closed world segments, I might just sign up for it. After all, it IS Batman. Thoughts?
