Bioshock Infinite: City in the Sky Trailer

If you’re like me and you’ve been waiting for Bioshock Infinite this whole time, your heart probably dropped when you heard that the game got pushed to March 26. It probably also didn’t help much that they keep releasing awesome trailers like these to keep our hype in check.

This latest trailer seems to be aimed at showing more of what’s going to happen when you set foot on the floating city of Columbia, displaying much more of the game’s environments and combat, all along the while showing a sneak peek of the story that the folks at Irrational Games so lovingly crafted. Still, it’s worth noting that every single thing about this trailer screams that it is part of the Bioshock universe, displaying the core concept of the series that talks about how ideologies can lead to some horrible, horrible consequences if someone abuses them.

Bioshock Infinite puts you in the shoes of Booker DeWitt, a former pinkerton agent assigned to rescue a girl named Elizabeth from a floating city called The Columbia. In a manner not so different to the Big Daddys of the original Bioshock games, Elizabeth is protected (and, if the trailers are to be believed, often harassed) by a huge mechanical creature called The Songbird. To make matters worst, things are quickly going south on Columbia, with warring factions and anarchy reigning supreme. Ken Levine said in some interviews that, much like how the first game’s theme was based loosely about Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, that Bioshock Infinite‘s theme is a loose exploration of American Exceptionalism.

Bioshock Infinite is set to come out on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 26. Preordering the game will grant you access to a browser-based puzzle game called Bioshock Infinite: Industrial Revolution, a game based off of developer Lazy 8 Studios’ Cogs. Solving the puzzles will unlock various items in the game when it’s finally released. Let’s hope we make it then without any more delays!
