Welcome back to On The Horizon, our weekly update on what games are coming out and what’s new on Gamer Horizon. This week is going to be full of exciting news with the Next Xbox reveal scheduled for Tuesday. More on that later; for now, on to the new releases!
Resident Evil: Revelations, a game originally released on the 3DS, is coming to consoles on Tuesday, May 21st in North America, May 23rd in Japan and Australia and May 24th in Europe. It will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC. The visuals, lighting and sound have all been improved for consoles, and the Wii U version has some exclusive special features including dual screen gameplay, Off-TV play and Miiverse functionality. There’s also a new enemy, new weapons and skill sets, new playable characters, improvements to raid mode and even an extra difficulty setting. Check out the trailer below!
Another game finding a home on a new platform this week is Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, the 3DS version of the Wii’s Donkey Kong Country Returns that was released in 2010. Published by Nintendo and developed by Monster Games, the 3DS version features a special new mode optimized for portable playability. In that mode, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong have 3 hearts instead of 2, and there are more items available at Cranky’s shop. New items include a Portable DK Barrel that can summon Diddy Kong in an instant, a green balloon which provides rescue if the player’s character falls in a pit (but only once) and the Crash Guard, which protects from 2 crashes while riding a rocket barrel or mine cart. The new mode is also recommended for players that found the original game too challenging. The original mode from Wii is also included, and there are 8 brand new levels in a new world that can only be played after finishing the game. Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will be released in North America and Europe on May 24th, on May 25 in Australia and this Summer in Japan.
Also coming out on Tuesday May 21st for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, PC and 3DS is Fast & Furious: Showdown. Lastly, Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes is finally making it’s way to the Wii U.
This week on Gamer Horizon we will be covering the Next Xbox reveal event that is happening on May 21st. Ari will have a summary of all of the major announcements following the event, and we’ll be looking for a live stream to embed onto our site so that we can watch the events unfold in real time (with hilarious comments sure to follow). Later in the week, Sean will be writing an article comparing what we know about the Next Xbox and the PlayStation 4. That’s sure to be a bloody battle!
Into Pinball? Pinball FX2 was recently released on Steam, Pinball Arcade is soon to be a free game on PlayStation Plus, and exclusively on Gamer Horizon, we will be bringing you an amazing interview with the owner of the Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame. Look forward to that later in the week!
We’ll also have Sean’s impressions of Metro: Last Light, Ted’s impressions of Resident Evil: Revelations, the most recent PlayStation Plus update, and all of the latest news and announcements. This week is going to be awesome!
