Everybody gets a titan in Titanfall

Respawn entertainment recently admitted that every player can run through the maps in Titanfall with titans, all at the same time. Players in Titalfall all start off as soldiers on the battlefield. As soon as the player’s boots hit the ground, the timer starts ticking, counting down to when that particular players titan will launch.

Abbe Heppe, community manager at Respawn entertainment said, “Titans are available throughout the match and are set to a timer. You can decrease the amount of time it takes to call in a Titan by completing objectives and getting kills. Once you lose your Titan the countdown starts again.”

“It is possible that everyone in the match could have a Titan on the battlefield at the same time. We have to have maps that support not only the Titans which are over 20 feet tall but also human-sized Pilots, so even our “smaller” maps are pretty large comparatively. What’s cool is each map has areas for Titans and areas for Pilots, so you get these smaller maps built into the larger ones and all these cool pathways through them.”

Titanfall - Run man runWe still don’t know how big the teams will be in Titanfall. The Battlefield games can host up to 64 players in a single match. With Titanfall launching on the Xbox One and PC, the numbers will most likely be high. That’s a lot of players all stomping around in titans. It would change the dynamic of the game if every player was in a titan the entire match. As cool as that sounds to me, I am also looking forward to running around the map as a soldier as well. With the number of mod tools available for PC players, I’m sure it will be no time before mods are available that allow players to create custom matches that only allow titans on the battlefield.

    1. I’m cool with a relatively low player count. Especially since the game will have live players and bots.
