Upcoming Xbox 360 Season Passes to apply to Xbox One versions

In another post on the official Xbox blog, Microsoft announced that they will be honoring Xbox 360 Season Pass purchases of Call of Duty: Ghosts and Battlefield 4 on the Xbox One should players decide to upgrade (read: double dip) to the next generation versions this holiday. This comes as a welcome sign for people who want to play the games and experience Season Pass content that’s released before the Xbox One’s release date. Microsoft had this to say about their initiative:

Season Pass Guarantee makes transitioning from Xbox 360 to Xbox One an easier and smoother process, so you don’t have to worry about which console you’re playing games on or repurchasing your existing add-ons on Xbox One.

Microsoft identified that the biggest publishers, including Activision, Electronic Arts and Ubisoft are all lined up and supporting this initiative, with more to announce as they near the holiday season. Honestly, this is one of the most forward thinking moves Microsoft has ever done in the past few months and I applaud them for encouraging people to upgrade their experiences to the next generation, rather than supporting (poorly, in some cases) consumers’ insistence to delay the purchase of the next platform.

Does this affect your purchasing decision of what platform to buy these games on? Or will you just be getting the Xbox One version of these games when they finally come out? Sound off in the comments!
