Happy Monday, dear readers! Welcome back to a regular weekly 5-day grind. I know, I know, it’s a little disappointing given that last week was such a short week for some of us, but this week’s got some awesome games coming up as well as some details coming from last night’s PlayStation press conference in Japan. If you didn’t stay up from 2am Eastern/11pm Pacific and stuck around for a couple of hours, you probably missed some of the news… but don’t worry, since we got you covered! But first, here’s what’s coming out this week.
Ted swears by Killzone Mercenary. In fact, he liked it so much that he played the short beta they had and has been telling us to try or even pick up the game if we had a Vita. Now, you can finally defeat Helghast on the go and experience what other sites are saying has been building up since the original PSP (i.e. first person shooters on portables are now finally a reality). Here’s the trailer for this game. And let me remind you: this is a Vita game!
Puppeteer, a 2D side-scroller from Sony for the PlayStation 3, was something that the entire crew completely missed and/or glossed over at E3. This charming game is set to come out tomorrow and, unfortunately, with all my previous review responsibilities, I’m unable to review it. But needless to say, it looks like it’ll be an awesome game… and the fact that it’s a budget title (MSRP $39.99) makes this a worthwhile purchase if you’re itching to play a platformer that’s not Rayman Legends, which you should be playing too by the way. I feel like this game is somewhat of an extension of the ideas from LittleBigPlanet, and it seems like the controls are much tighter than the latter, and that alone is well worth exploring. Besides, the world could use more awesome platformers! Here’s a trailer for this quirky title.
Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is… you guessed it… a HD remake of the original Kingdom Hearts, but also includes both Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories. It also contains a video compilation of every event in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days that spans close to 3 hours. And yes, watching this will get you Trophies. Here’s a trailer for the game, if you’re interested in it!
Lastly, if you’re a fan of hockey, you’re in luck! NHL 14 from EA is also out this week! What else is there to say except it’s hockey? Here’s the trailer for that title.
This week on Gamer Horizon, I’m writing an article to update our “Welcome to Gamer Horizon” feature and bring it to the current version, finalizing my Diablo III review and trying to defeat the lord of demons himself, alongside both online and local players, so be sure to look for those this week. Sean’s got a review of Payday 2 incoming as well… and he’s got some interesting tid bits to say about the online multiplayer too. We also have a podcast which will be coming out in the near future that we recorded on Saturday. Sadly, we weren’t able to answer your questions on the podcast, but we’ll make good next time! Ari will be providing us an update on Final Fantasy XI: A Realm Reborn, which I’m curious to read. And finally, resident League of Legends fanatic Ted has been checking out the dark side and trying out DotA 2… and boy, does he have an opinion of the game.
That’s what’s coming up this week in gaming and on Gamer Horizon, folks. Hope you have a great week and we hope to see you throughout the week as well!
Cool….
