Today, Mighty No. 9, the Kickstarted game from Keiji Inafune and his studio Comcept, broke 3 million dollars in funding. With 48 hours to go, they need to raise another half million to reach their newly-added final stretch goal: Vita and 3DS ports.
Given the bump Kickstarter projects get in their last 24 hours, this goal should not be a problem. Especially since while I was writing this article and getting it ready, Mighty No. 9 has now broken 3.1 million. Funding has accelerated since the Vita and 3DS stretch goal was announced, and we might see a further stretch goal added before this project ends on Tuesday.
Mighty No. 9 is a spiritual successor to Mega Man, taking the best design concepts of games of that era with mechanics of the modern age. It’s releasing for PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U in 2015. PS4, Xbox One, Vita, and 3DS ports will be added if funding is reached.
