Jodie Holmes is a name you’ll be getting familiar with this week, because Beyond Two Souls is this week’s featured On The Horizon title! Many of this week’s updates will most likely center around this past weekend’s IndieCade festivities and we’ll be sharing and writing our initial thoughts on some of the games that you might want to play down the pipeline. There were so many wonderful and truly talented people that we’ve met over the weekend, amidst the curious presence of Sony and Nintendo (but no Microsoft), but there was a freshness and vibrance in the air that hasn’t been present in previous IndieCades. Without any further ado, let’s get on with what you’ll be seeing games wise as well as any content you might come to expect from us on Gamer Horizon!
Beyond Two Souls. It’s David Cage’s (Omikron, Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain) magnum opus, starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe. It’s got psychic powers, context sensitive gameplay (read: quick time events), and a really engaging plot. Is it everything we’ve ever hoped for in a game? We’ll be the judge of that: But for now, here’s a quick preview of the game taken from the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this year.
Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness is a sequel to Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Now, I’ll be honest and say that I’m not into turn based strategy RPGs, but I’ve always liked what Disgaea had to offer in terms of its characters and gameplay when I had a chance to play a little of it back in the day. And if you’re a big fan of the series, just like Ari is, you’ll be excited to know that this focuses on the main characters of the original PlayStation 2 title. As always, here’s the trailer!
I’ll be honest. I’ve never gotten why Just Dance sold more copies than Dance Central. Maybe it’s time to get one? Just Dance 4 is coming out this week for basically every platform (except portables or PC), so I won’t lie. I’m interested. Mildly. If anything, it’d be a fun party game to play. I mean, look at this trailer!
If you haven’t gotten it yet, Borderlands 2 is coming out with a Game of the Year edition and will feature all of the existing expansions for Borderlands 2 and some neat niceties. If you’ve been holding out, this edition of the game is the most feature complete of all. Not sure if you want to get your loot grind on? Check out the original trailer for the game.
This week, we’ll be catching up on all the stuff that we’ve seen at IndieCade this past weekend and having our usual weekly features, like Ted’s Roundhouse Roundup, the Top 5, which will be all about our Top 5 Xbox 360 games, and What’s Up Weekend. And yes, I know that I’ve yet missed another deadline for my Saints Row IV review, but you already got it right? Right? RIGHT?
Hope you all enjoy this week’s games and we’ll see you around the site!
Nice
