It’s February 19, 2013 and it’s time for another edition of On The Horizon! Did any of you pick up Aliens: Colonial Marines or Kat or Emmett for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale last week? If not, be sure to look for Anthony’s Aliens: Colonial Marines review in the next few days and Ted’s impressions of Kat and Emmett on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale if you haven’t yet. You’ll also have our Fire Emblem: Awakening review to look forward as well.
The Metal Gear saga continues on a different path this week with the release of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Set four years after the events of Metal Gear Solid 4, this Platinum Games developed title puts you in control of Raiden. We’ve talked about the Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance demo in our podcast before and enjoyed the crazy action only afforded by having a cyborg Raiden. Kojima Productions is overseeing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, so you don’t have to worry about it straying too far away from the craziness of the main Metal Gear timeline. If you’re a Metal Gear fan, this different take on the Metal Gear universe is certainly a must have. We’ll have a review of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance soon but, in the meantime, we have a trailer waiting for you right here.
Crytek will also be releasing Crysis 3 this week. The game happens 24 years after the events of Crysis 2 with the player given control of Alcatraz, who returns to New York and seeing that it’s now enclosed in a giant Nanodome created by a corrupt corporation called C.E.L.L. And yes, we’ve got a trailer for it!
And finally, Part 1 of Assassin’s Creed 3: The Tyranny of King Washington comes out today. Billed as a series of alternate reality scenarios, George Washington is a tyrant who rules over the colonies with an iron fist. You once again play the role of Connor, as he battles the King and his many subordinates. You won’t need to finish Assassin’s Creed 3 in order to enjoy this DLC, but if you’re still unsure as to how this series fares in comparison to the main game look for Ted’s review of the content later in the week. In the meantime, enjoy the trailer!
Other than the games we mentioned, be sure to look out for the PlayStation Meeting happening this Wednesday, 2/20 at 6pm Eastern/3pm Pacific which will be live streaming from New York. Gamer Horizon will be providing an embedded video player so you can watch the stream live from our site, as well as commenting with you all while we watch the future of PlayStation unfold.
